Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a type of orthodontic treatment that utilizes a clear aligner appliance to gradually optimize the position of the teeth and bite. These aligners are specifically fabricated for the individual and multiple aligners are used in progression to obtain the desired results. Not only are these clear aligners a discreet way to undergo orthodontic treatment, but they are also removable, meaning there is no need for dietary restrictions. Because of their many benefits, Invisalign® is a popular choice for teens and adults undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Did you know…

Invisalign® aligners are fabricated using their SmartTrak® material. This material is able to fit snugly around the teeth in order to initiate the constant, gentle force needed to move the teeth. Since the material is also thin, it is comfortable as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for Invisalign®?

You may be a candidate for Invisalign® if you are looking for a discreet and minimally invasive approach to orthodontic treatment. Invisalign® is able to treat crooked teeth, overlapping teeth, teeth with gaps between them, and malocclusion such as overbites, underbites, cross bites, and open bites. To determine if you are an ideal candidate for Invisalign®, schedule a consultation with Dr. Sanket Upadhyay at Birch Point Dental Clinic today.

What can I expect when undergoing orthodontic treatment with Invisalign® at Birch Point Dental Clinic?

When undergoing orthodontic treatment with Invisalign®, you can expect dental x-rays, photographs, and oral scans to be taken of your mouth. Dr. Sanket Upadhyay will use this information with software that will allow you to preview your results and estimate an approximate treatment length.

Once a treatment decision has been made, your aligners will be custom fabricated according to your treatment plan. You will need to wear these aligners for at least 22 hours a day and should only remove them for eating, brushing, and flossing. Approximately every 6-8 weeks, you will return to Birch Point Dental Clinic so that Dr. Sanket Upadhyay can monitor your progress and provide you with your next set of aligners. The total length of your treatment will vary and is dependent on a variety of factors, however the average is about one and a half years.

What can I expect after undergoing orthodontic treatment with Invisalign®?

After undergoing orthodontic treatment, you can expect to wear a retainer. This is because retainers are an important part of maintaining the new position of your teeth and bite since they prevent your teeth from shifting back into their original position. At first, you will need to wear your retainer at all times except while eating, brushing, or flossing. As time goes on, however, you will eventually only need to wear your retainer at night. Invisalign® utilizes a clear aligner retainer that is just as discreet and removable as their other aligners.
