Did You Know?

Although many people assume that hospital emergency rooms can treat dental emergencies, most emergency rooms do not have the required materials or expertise to effectively treat dental emergencies. For these reasons, it is recommended to always call your dentist when experiencing an emergency related to your teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need emergency dental care?

You will need emergency dental care if you have one or more teeth that have suddenly become loose, broken, knocked out, or very painful. You may also need emergency dental care if you have a dental restoration that has fallen out, become loose, or has broken. If you are not sure if you need emergency dental care, call our office for guidance.

What can I expect when receiving emergency dental care at Birch Point Dental Clinic?

When receiving emergency dentistry from Birch Point Dental Clinic, you can expect to be seen as soon as possible and usually within the same day. Dr. Sanket Upadhay will ask you about your symptoms and perform an examination to determine the best treatment approach. In many cases, you can also expect to have dental x-rays performed to get a better look at the inside of the affected area and allow for proper treatment planning. Once a treatment plan has been suggested and approved, then Dr. Sanket Upadhay will begin the necessary treatment. Depending on the type of treatment, dental anesthetics and sedation may be used to keep you comfortable and calm during the procedure.

What can I expect after receiving emergency dental care?

After receiving emergency dental care, Dr. Sanket Upadhyay may provide you with special instructions to follow, depending on the type of emergency and procedure performed. These special instructions can vary, but generally include keeping the treatment site clean, temporary diet restrictions, practicing good oral hygiene, and taking any prescribed medications. Dr. Sanket Upadhyay may also have you schedule a follow up appointment so he can monitor your recovery.
