Veneers

Veneers are thin, porcelain shells that are adhered to the front side of visible teeth in order to improve their appearance. Having veneers placed can improve the appearance of your teeth by correcting gaps between the teeth, oddly shaped teeth, unevenly sized teeth, discolored or stained teeth, broken teeth, and crooked teeth. Not only are they versatile in terms of what they can fix, but veneers also allow you the flexibility to improve a single tooth or your entire smile.

Did you know?

Veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments because of their versatility. In fact, veneers tend to be the treatment of choice for celebrities looking to improve the look of their smiles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for veneers?

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Excessively worn or translucent teeth
  • Stained or discolored teeth
  • Teeth with gaps between them
  • Teeth that overlap
  • Crooked teeth

However, veneers are considered to be a long term treatment, so you will need to schedule an appointment and discuss this wthl Dr. Sanket Upadhyay to make sure that veneers are the right choice for your smile.

What can I expect when having veneers placed at Birch Point Dental Clinic?

When having veneers placed at Birch Point Dental Clinic, you can expect to have at least two dental appointments. During the first appointment, you can expect to have some mild modifications made to your natural tooth structure. This is because in order to have veneers fit properly over your teeth, a thin layer of enamel will need to be removed. Depending on the extent of these modifications, dental anesthetics may or may not be needed. Once a thin layer of enamel has been removed, then a dental impression will be taken of your mouth.

The dental impression will be used to make a model of your mouth so that your veneers can be customized specifically for your smile. Since it takes about 1-2 weeks for the dental lab to fabricate veneers, you will be fitted with temporary veneers to protect your teeth and maintain your gum contour. Once your permanent veneers have arrived, the temporary veneers will be removed and replaced with the permanent veneers.

What can I expect after having veneers placed?

After having your temporary veneers placed, you will need to exercise caution when biting or chewing since temporary veneers are more likely to fall off or become damaged. As such, you will want to avoid eating chewy, crunchy, hard, or sticky foods. Once you get your permanent veneers, you can return to your normal diet, however you will still want to exercise caution when eating excessively hard foods. In the first few days after getting veneers placed you may also experience minor tooth sensitivity. This will usually be resolved once your teeth have adapted to the veneers. To care for your veneers, you will need to brush twice a day, floss daily, and visit Birch Point Dental Clinic at least once every 6 months for an exam and cleaning. When cared for properly, dental veneers tend to last about 10 to 15 years.
